How to kick start your reading habits
“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies . . . The man who never reads lives only one.” said George R.R. Martin an American novelist
Do you love books but struggle with “how to build a reading habit”. With work and family it's difficult to open a book. However if you have time for Instagram and Netflix you have time for reading. You only have to follow these steps and reading will become easy without being overwhelming. Reading can transform, improve and change your life for better.
Start with small things. Daily reading for 5-10 minutes will make a difference. Be it at the breakfast table, car or bus. Reading should be consistent and daily.
Keep a book handy. Any book of your interest, keep it in your purse or in mobile (Kindle app) When you have a book handy, reaching out becomes easy. Easy access ensures reading becomes a part of your daily life.
Read books that excite you. If a book becomes a chore, change it to something you love to read. Be it fiction, romance or non-fiction. Something you truly enjoy reading rather than following the herd mentality.
Try reading different genres and diversify your reading. Diversification will broaden your perspective, and will introduce you to ideas and keep you fresh and engaging
Audio books are a great way to fit into your busy schedule. Be it driving, cooking etc. If you are too busy to sit and read, then you have an audiobook for your rescue.
Reading is fun when shared. For this one can join a local book club and an online book club or share with friends.
Reading should be fun and enjoyable. Don't fuss if you miss a day. You can always catch up next time. The goal is to cultivate a life long reading and not to rush through it.
Happy reading..
