Digital libraries, e-libraries, Kindle library all this sounds very interesting. With just one click one can have access to e-books, archives of one institute, or repositories of an institution. Publishers are also coming up with policy of pay per chapter on your mobile display. Recently Encyclopedia Britannica announced the launch of e-library in schools. As new technology is developing new modes of catering to the masses are also coming up.

But this development is proving detrimental to the traditional method of library services and bookstore. As a result many old and famous book stores are closing down. Libraries are constantly under pressure to upgrade their technology in order to provide library services to patrons right inside their home on their desktop. The joy of coming to the library or a bookstore is getting lost in the name of development. The days spent in the library or at the bookstore handling a physical copy, conversing with friends when spotting a cover of physical copy, or reading a book in a bus are slowly dying. As the technology is increasing, the culture, memory the relationship of a user to its book is slowly declining. The sensory experience of touching a book is slowly being removed from the reading history.

The new brave publishing world is coming up with serious e publishing and trying to keep up with the changing world and its need, the physical books are something which has been around for years and many still like to possess a physical copy before opting for a digital one. Hence in order to change with the developing technology one should not forget the printing press and the physical book still holds a place in the digital era.
