Take a book return a book is the phrase of Little free library movement which has been popularized by Todd Bol in Hudson US in 2009, when he mounted a wooden container designed to look like a school house on a post in his lawn to pay tribute to his mother who was a book lover and a teacher. Since then the movement has become popular and has spread worldwide.
Little Free Library book exchanges are unique with a personal touch. The idea is to share their favorite book with their communities.
They come in many shapes and sizes, but the most common version is a small wooden box of books. Anyone may take a book or bring a book to share.
Now more than 25,000 mini libraries exist in the United States, Canada, and other countries, including Haiti, Ghana, Vietnam, the Netherlands, and Italy.
To start a free library one can become a steward by registering themselves at Little Free Library official website.
This idea is an attempt to bring in the communities together and to promote reading amongst the community members.
